Checking the Connection Between the Cantaloupe Telemeter and Card Reader (Cantaloupe)

How to check the physical connections between your Cantaloupe ePort and card reader (a.k.a. bezel)

If you have a Cantaloupe reader that has gone dark, you may be instructed by the Cantaloupe support team to check the connection between the Telemeter and Card Reader. If you have not received this request, we recommend calling Cantaloupe (+1 800.766.8728), providing your serial number, and explaining the issue to receive further instruction before moving onto the steps below. Your seial number can be found on the telemeter itself (Step 2 below)
  1. Unplug the fridge.

  2. Open the control box and locate the telemeter in the top right:

  3. Find a black cord coming from the hole on the bottom left of the control box that connects to the telemeter.

  4. Gently unplug this connection

Best Case Scenario: If you have a voltage meter, unplug the connection and confirm there is power coming from the telemeter cord that feeds into this connection: Find the slot where the red wire feeds into and probe it with your voltage meter.

If there is power, move on to the next step. If there is no power, please submit a ticket.

  5. Reconnect the wires gently.

  6. Plug the fridge in and see if the card reader works. If not, move on to the next step

  7. Unplug the fridge again and unscrew the credit card reader mount. Depending on your model, you either use a philips head or a security star tip screw driver (photographed below). Make sure to hold the reader so it does not swing down and cause unnecessary damage to the cord.

  8. Gently unplug the connection:
