Installing an HID Reader

If your payment integration requires an HID reader, here is how you install it.

  1. Unplug your microstore

  2. Using a security star tip bit, release the mounting plate of the card reader from the door. As you do so, be careful not to tug on the card reader as the cords cannot be replaced if damaged.

  3. Unplug the connections and set the card reader to the side.

  4. Release the mounting bracket on the fridge with a Philips head screwdriver:

  5. Attach the custom mounting plate that was sent to you with the same screws
  6. Insert the USB-B cable (square-shaped, right-angle head) into the Castles reader (any port will do).  Then attach the USB-B to USB-A converter to the end of that cable. Finally, feed your HID reader cable through the side hole of the mount and attach it to the converter. The first photo below shows a white HID cable, yours may be black, as shown in the second photo.

  7. Plug in the power and Ethernet cord back onto the card reader and reattach the mount:

  8. Power on the fridge and swipe your payment method on the HID reader. The microstore should unlock. If it does not, please email both support@launchfoodspot.com and businessoperations@apriva.com
